Strong start in the MXGP World Championship for Pauls Jonass
Pauls Jonass of Standing Construct Honda MXGP has made a strong start in the MXGP World Championship. On the beautiful circuit of Villa la Angostura in Argentina, Jonass managed to finish third and fourth in the motos and became fourth in the day’s classification. Alberto Forato decided after Saturday not to ride on Sunday due to an injury sustained earlier.
The Villa la Angostura circuit was in good condition when the riders started the weekend, but it soon became clear that it was going to be very treacherous. The speed was very high, so we had to drive extremely concentrated. Jonass had found the right rhythm on the track and set a second fastest time in time practice. Later in the day, he added a strong third place in the qualifying heat and with this he was able to start from the inside in both motos on Sunday!
A good start in the first moto allowed Jonass to start the race in the leading group. In the early stages, he was in third place but then fell back to fourth place. Jonass was able to maintain the high pace and this allowed him to take back third place. Riding smoothly he managed to finish the moto in third place.
Also in the second moto Jonass was well at the front with the start and came out of the first lap in third place. In the early stages he had to give up a place but then rode a very consistent race in fourth place. He did not relinquish this position and finished fourth in the day’s results.
In the weekend of 23 and 24 March, the world championship will continue in Arroyomolinos, Spain.
